San Roque The heart of the
San Roque Club is golf; golfers can choose between 2 courses.
1. The demanding par 72 of The Old Course, the original course designed by Dave Thomas, that winds through cork oak forests with superb mountain views. For many years it has played host to memorable moments for the young pretenders and old campaigners alike. The course's tight, sloping fairways are lined by mature cork oak trees - demanding straight, accurate driving. Strategic bunker placement and deceptive water hazards threaten all but the most precise approach shots.
The greens are fast, contoured and true, rewarding well-judged putts and punishing anything else. Acknowledged for it's challenge throughout Europe, The Old Course provides a test for the very highest standard of golfer.
2. The New Course, created by legendary American course designer Perry Dye. The idea was to create a new course that is a challenge for scratch and low handicap golfers but that is also possible for higher handicap players to enjoy. To that end each hole has five different tee positions and fairways that are wider than those on The Old Course. Nevertheless, these fairways are designed to reward canny tactics and skilful drive placement. Water hazards guard four of the greens, also defended by more than a hundred strategic bunkers, which lie in wait for wayward or ambitious drivers.
